Learning through Mental Models
Method Objectives & Summary
In French, the expression “l’embarras du choix” is literally translated as the hindrance of having too many choices to make. Sometimes, the real issue in solving a problem is that it has too many viable solutions. Learning with Mental Models leverages the visualization of several possible outcomes in order to make the decision with selecting the solution with the best consequence
Method Application
One of the best applications that utilizes learning with mental models is in learning in groups and teams. Because the situation stimulates differences in opinions and perspectives, teams often arrive at several solutions to consider. In the process of selecting the solution with the best outcome, mental models allow them to make a final decision based on a common goal.
